Periodic Inspections - What Are They?
A periodic inspection, often called the 'Annual Inspection', is a thorough, detailed examination of fall protection equipment to check for hidden flaws, assess service life limits and ensure compliance to current regulations and CSA design requirements. It is above and beyond the pre-use inspection that is required and performed by the end-user.
Even though end-users are trained to inspect their equipment daily, the reality is that they often don't spend as much time as they should to inspect, or they simply are not thorough enough. Perhaps their equipment is out-of-date or not legal to use in Canada.
Detailed inspections must be done periodically, typically annually but may be performed more often as determined by a variety of parameters. Essential for user safety, periodic inspections are part of a well-rounded, managed fall protection program to ensure the equipment will work flawlessly in the event of a falling accident and to help your company fulfil its due diligence.
Five Reasons For This Inspection Training
1. Safety for the equipment user!
2. The Canada Labour Code and Provincial Health and Safety Regulations require inspections to be done by a qualified person.
3. The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) requires inspection to be performed by a qualified person other than the end-user.
4. The manufacturers of fall protection equipment state in their product literature a requirement for inspection by someone other than the end-user.
5. Due diligence!
Why Attend Training at Height Safety Services?
Long before many companies were even using fall protection equipment, our company was involved in pioneering this high level of inspection. This inspection program has been effective for nearly 30 years, having helped many companies from coast-to-coast in Canada to achieve a safer workplace and to fulfil their due diligence. Our clientele who have returned for retraining are the best testimony to the quality of our inspection program.
Our experience has enabled us to develop this specialized training which utilizes nearly 200 pieces of equipment from a wide variety of makes and models of fall protection equipment from leading manufacturers.
By means of both theory and ample hands-on training, we teach the knowledge and skills required to perform the periodic inspection and organize a managed equipment inspection program.
Participants will receive one-on-one contact time with the instructor to coach them on their individual inspection techniques.
Your company will benefit from our expertise. Don't settle for less, get the best!
